So I'm at the grocery store a few minutes ago
and I have my two items ready to go as I stand in the 10 items or less
line. Things seem to be taking a while though, and as it turns out, the
person at the register not only has 20+ items but is also writing a
check.
This is not what bothers me though.
I've come to an understanding on simple matters like the "10 items or
less, no checks" line at the store. People don't care about the
convenience of others and therefore don't adhere to the unenforced
rules. That's fine. It happens all the time and anything short of a
violent uprising against all the stupid people in the land won't help
to solve this problem.
My beef though comes with the lady standing directly in front of me.
She's obviously got somewhere else to go, and so she's muttering
hateful things under her breath the whole time the 20 item idiot is at
the register.
So finally, this angry lady who is in a hurry gets to the counter and
gives the cashier her three items. Here comes the fun part. The cashier
gives her the total, and it's at THIS POINT, AFTER A RIDICULOUS LONG
WAIT IN LINE FOR THIS WOMAN, that she decides to unzip her purse and
start searching for her wallet. She finally finds it, and then starts
fumbling through that to find her $20 bill. This entire process takes
at least *3* minutes from the time her total is given to the time she
hands over the cash.
Now, if YOU were in a hurry, wouldn't YOU have your money out and ready
to be taken? So you could be done quicker and be on your merry way? No,
not Ms. Complainy-Pants. Once she gets to the register its super-duhhh
mode for her.
It's these people you have to look out for. The "all-dumb, all the
time" ones are easy to spot and are easily avoidable. But it's the ones
that seemingly think like you but then turn out to be dumber than the
dumb ones that are a mortal danger to our very existence.
Ok. maybe I'm overstating that last part a bit, but ugh, I hate people. And I'm not over-stating that.
