Well, we made it!
Vegas Update #1
* I made it through the flight in one piece. As many of you know, I had concerns about flying. I'll get into all that in a later entry.
* We landed in Vegas around 7pm local time. I think. I have no idea what time it actually is. The hotel has clouds and somewhat permanent dusk painted on its ceilings, and the casino looks the same 24/7. There's a view of mountains out the window, the prime time coverage of the Olympics just started, and I need to pass out soon.
* That "yeah, but it's a dry heat" nonsense? It's nonsense. You know when you're checking on your pizza in the oven and you get that blast of oven heat on your face when you open it up? That's "dry heat". It's hot. It's really freakin' hot. Heat is heat.
* Luxury resorts are nice, and trust me, the Venetian hotel is a gorgeous place (I'll get into the ridiculousness of this hotel room in a later entry). But once you shell out a certain amount of dough on your accommodations, they should really stop attempting to nickel and dime you to death. The WiFi is $10 a day. There's a minibar of stuff that's so expensive, there's not even an indication of how much any of it costs. I'm about to swipe a coke and some repackaged/rebranded Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies out of their Raiders of the Ark-esque sensor scale...
* ...and I'm back. Mmmm. $40 never tasted so good.
* We hit the slots earlier. I blew through $30 in house credit and another unfortunate amount of real money in no time flat. What do I have left to show for it? A credit voucher for 4 cents. My bride on the other hand turned $15 of house cash into $60+.
More soon...
